Wed, 8 Mar 2017, 7:30 PM – Sun, 12 Mar 2017, 10:00 PM PST
Growing Room: A Feminist Literary Festival is a celebration of diverse Canadian writers and artists presented by Room magazine.
The festival runs March 8th - 12th, 2017 at various locations in Vancouver, BC.
The festival features 50 writers and artists in more than 20 events over 4 days. Among the line-up are acclaimed writers Amber Dawn, Evelyn Lau, Lorna Crozier, Audrey Thomas, Jen Sookfong Lee, Hiromi Goto, Betsy Warland, and Rachel Hartman, who’ll share the stage with a host of other established and up-and-coming names.
Growing Room takes place on the unceded Coast Salish Territories of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh, and Squamish people.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR EVENTS:
1. Select the events you want to attend by reading through the event descriptions at roommagazine.com/festival or in our print program (available in February 2017 at various locations around the Lower Mainland)
2. Click the green 'Tickets' button above and scroll through the list of events to find yours. Select the number of seats you want to reserve for each event you plan to attend and click 'Check out.'
3. If any of your events have a ticket cost (such as the launch or the workshops), you can pay using your credit card. If you would like to register for an event but prefer to pay by cash or cheque, please email email@example.com.
4. There is no need to print your ticket - your name will be included on a guest list for each event. If you give your seat at an event to a friend, the seat will still be under your name, which they'll have to give at the door to enter.
All events are free with the exception of low-cost writing workshops ($15-$30), and the Launch Party at the Fox Cabaret, which has a cover fee of $10.
Two events--'Perfect Pairings' and 'To My Family with Love'--do not require pre-registration, which is why you won't find them listed here.
Unfortunately, there are no waitlists for sold out events. However, a limited number of seats have been reserved for walk-ups (with priority given to elders and disabled people), plus, we do expect a number of no-shows at free events. If you wish to attend a sold out event but don't have a ticket, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early, and we'll do our best to get you in. However, without registering for the event, seating is not guaranteed.
Sorry, no refunds or exchanges on workshops or the launch party.
If you cannot attend a free event that you have registered for. please cancel your ticket so someone else can take your spot. Here's how to do it.
Important note: Daylight Savings takes place during the Festival Weekend. Please remember to turn your clocks forward one hour before going to sleep on Saturday, March 11th so you don't miss any events on Sunday!
