About this event
Join in on this GSA community stroll at your own pace from December 14th-18th. This is a great opportunity to get some exercise outdoors with graduate students from a distance! Here's how it works:
Step 1: Register for this event. After registering, if you would like to be linked up with a strolling pal (another graduate student), please e-mail Ashley at gsa-wellness@uwaterloo.ca
Step 2: Check your e-mails for a trail pack closer to December 14th. This pack will include two trail maps for you to choose from (one near main campus, one in Kitchener). The pack will also include information about Canadian wildlife during winter, and a link to a playlist of local artists. If you have opted to be connected to another graduate student, you will also be given contact information for a graduate student who also signed up for that option.
Step 3: Prepare for the walk. Choose the day and time you want to go. Coordinate a call with your strolling pal if you are going on different walks (if you are going on the same trail, please follow all local health regulations including staying at least 6 feet away from each other). Dress for the weather. Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated. Make sure you have a copy of the trail map on hand and a charged cell phone.
Step 4: Go on the walk! Have a fun time, take in the fresh air, and learn some new things! If you choose to listen to the local playlist during the walk, please make sure you are always aware of your surroundings. We also recommend walking with someone from your household if possible. Please do not play the music on an external speaker, as this can disturb the local wildlife.
Step 5: Take a photo of yourself or something along the walk and tag us on Instagram at @gsa.uwaterloo or Twitter at @GSA_UWaterloo using the hashtag #GSAcommunitystroll. If you participate in 5 of our strolls using this tag, you could win a prize!
