Career Sessions

During the headshot photography sessions, the CSIC is concurrently offering the following sessions in the main room of the GSS Grad Loft. Students are welcome to attend any combination of sessions according to their interest and availability; please register separately for each workshop you plan to attend.

2:00-3:00—Talking to Employers & Professionals

Setting up a Linked In profile is a great first step towards connecting with potential employers and building your network. This session will focus on strategies for interacting with employers both online and in-person, highlighting strategies for how to optimize connections and build your visibility as an emerging professional in your field.

3:00-4:00—Nuts and Bolts: Resume, Cover Letters, and Linked In

As a job searcher, you have 3 key opportunities to tell employers about your skills, knowledge, and accomplishments. Your resume, cover letter, and Linked In profile all create different opportunities for you to highlight your potential value. This workshop will give you strategies for how to approach each of these opportunities.

4:00-5:00—Career Planning & Job Searching as an International Graduate Student

Many international graduate students have specific questions about approaching job searching and career planning. This session will offer a chance to discuss potential strategies for succeeding on the job market, and learning from the experiences of others.

5:00-6:00—Design Your Way Forward: Hands-on Tools for Making Career Decisions

Drawing on the work of pioneering researchers at Stanford University, this workshop will use the Design Your Life framework and toolkit to facilitate interactive learning. If you're wondering how to choose the "best" career, or make the "right" decision about your work and life, please join us to experiment and explore.

*Light snacks and tea will be provided
