Event description

Description

We've been silkscreening up a storm at the Guelph Tool Library, and we're eager to share our new skill.

Join us on MOnday, March 30th and create your own upcycled Guelph Tool Library t shirt. Bring an old favourite, pick one up second hand, or get one from us for a small donation (subject to availability, let us know if you are unable to BYO).

In this workshop you will:
-Learn how to design and create a custom stencil that can be used for multiple prints on a screen on a single-transfer stencil - participants might not have the chance to cut a stencil of their choice during the event, but will be able to return at a later date and use the vinyl cutter.
-Learn printing techniques for one and two colour prints, and get to know the basics of other ways to create images for a silkscreen, such as drawing fluid and photo emulsion.
-Have the chance to practice printing techniques before printing your shirt.
-Print your own shirt (bring your own for the best fit!)

Tickets are offered on a sliding scale, please pay the price tier you are most financially comfortable with. $10-$20. Tickets available online or in person (cash only). Please note that we are no longer able to offer $5 subsidized tickets, as our funding model has changed. Contact us at info@guelphtoollibrary.org if the price point is a barrier for you.

Upon completion of this class, GTL members will be able to use the Cricut Explore Air II during select office hours, and will be permitted to sign out the silkscreen and squeegee for at-home use.
