About this event

GuelphGives is excited to be hosting our first in-person event since 2019! Join us on Tuesday, November 30th for a conversation about Equity, Diversity and Inclusion with two incredible speakers; Iona Sky and Danai Mushayandebvu. This panel will be facilitated by GuelphGives Committee Chair, Emma Rogers alongside Travis Forbes.

ABOUT IONA SKY

Iona Sky (she/her) is a social worker, consultant and educator and has worked in in the social services for over 20 years. She has experience supporting and working in the developmental sector, women's services, 2SLGBTQ+ sector and child welfare, where she has spent the majority of her career. Iona is also a consultant and leader in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (with a particular focus on transfer to practice/action), leadership and organizational development. Iona is currently the Director of Practice Transformation at Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies and also teaches part-time in the Social Work department at the University of Waterloo. ABOUT DANAI MUSHAYANDEBVU

Danai Mushayandebvu is on the board of directors for the Children's Foundation Guelph Wellington. She leads editorial at The Birds Papaya, a Guelph-based media company, and is a senior editor at Notable Life, Canada's leading online lifestyle magazine for driven young professionals. She is also the founder of Forward Ever, Backward Never, a small initiative with a big mission to destigmatize and change behaviours around mental health, in partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), and ambassadorship with Kids Help Phone.

ABOUT EMMA ROGERS

As the CEO of the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, Emma considers herself one of the lucky ones who have the opportunity to be a persuader of philanthropy – helping people foster sustainable and resilient communities. ABOUT TRAVIS FORBES

Travis Forbes (He / Him) is a Fund Development professional, eager to create change well raising funds and awareness in the non-profit sector. Creating memories with a movement is most important to Travis. Currently, he holds the title of Special Event & Social Media Coordinator with the Alzheimer Society Waterloo Wellington. Although Travis is just in the beginning of his non-profit career, he has a strong background in event management, social media and community engagement. Travis is an effective communicator who looks forward to creating and building relationships. You can count on him to bring the importance of equity, diversity, and inclusion to the forefront of all conversations and most importantly to every table he sits at.
