Description

Guest Speaker Series: Installing Solar PV Systems

The solar industry is a fast moving sector of the Electrical industry. While many facets are similar to an Electrician’s typical repertoire, there are several important topics particular to the Solar PV industry. The speaker will be discussing:

  • Residential vs Commercial Installations

  • Micro inverters vs String inverters

  • Maximum array sizing

  • Grounding and Bonding requirements

  • Wire management

  • Performance Calculations

  • Permit requirements

This presentation has 2 ticket types, a live session in Kamloops and and online webcast from your home or office. Please select your ticket type carefully as no webcast tickets will be permitted entry to the live session venue.

Who Should Attend?

Electrical contractors, Field Safety Representatives, Electricians, Apprentices, and anyone else with an interest in Solar Photovoltaic Systems. Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code is an asset, but not required.


About the Guest Speaker.

Amie Schellenberg has been a Red Seal Electrician since 2006. She has been an Electrical Instructor at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC since 2012. She teaches the Electrical Apprenticeship program and is working to bring Renewable Energy programming to the course offering. She has been trained in Solar PV by Solar Energy International, earning the Solar Professional Trainer Certification. She is a contractor in Kamloops when she is not teaching, and has installed several solar arrays through BC.


This is approximately a 1.5 hour presentation begining at 3pm, refreshments will be served before the session.
