Description
H2i has developed an engaging three-part Legal Education Workshop Series to provide participants with an understanding of the necessary legal steps and considerations when starting, managing, and growing their own business. The next workshop will focus on Funding Your Business regarding SAFEs, C-Notes, Debentures, venture rounds etc. We'll also discuss term sheets & valuations.
Dr. Gabriella Chan, H2i’s lead legal mentor, and Mr. Arthur Lee, former Magna International, Associate General Counsel, Purchasing, will lead industry practitioners in interactive discussions during each workshop from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Main Auditorium at 263 McCaul St.

Guest Panelist's Bios
Andrew Haigh Dr. Andrew (Andy) Haigh is Adapsyn’s Chief Operating Officer and has been working with the company since its inception. Prior to Adapsyn, Andy was the second employee at Formation Biologics, an antibody-drug conjugate company that has raised over $20 million to date to fuel clinical development. Additionally, he spent five years at Lumira Capital, a leading Canadian venture capital firm, where he executed both equity and debt transactions and performed a variety of strategic, financial, operational, and business due diligence and analyses on numerous public and private companies. Prior to joining Lumira Capital, Andy worked for MaRS and HTX – The Health Technology Exchange. Andy holds a PhD in Biology from Dalhousie University and an MBA from the Ivey Business School, which he attended on full scholarship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Kelly Holman Mr. Holman is co-Founder and Managing Director of Genesys Capital and has extensive commercial and technical experience in the biotechnology industry. Since co-founding Genesys Capital in 2000, Mr. Holman has been actively involved in raising over $300 million of venture capital and has been instrumental in deploying over $160 million across 30 investments. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Functional Neuromodulation Ltd. and Adapsyn Bioscience Inc. From 2012-2015, he was a board observer with Invitae (NYSE: NVTA), and from 2001 to 2013, he served on the board of Epocal (acquired by Alere, NYSE: ALR). Mr. Holman also sits on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Biotechnology Innovation Organization (OBIO). Prior to co-founding Genesys Capital, Mr. Holman was a Senior Investment Manager with MDS Capital Corporation. Previously, Mr. Holman worked in the laboratory of Dr. Peter St George-Hyslop at the University of Toronto where he was a key member of the international research team that discovered several genes responsible for Alzheimer’s disease. Mr. Holman holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Biochemistry and an MBA, both from Queen’s.
Andrew Wilkes Partner, Tech North Inc Andrew Wilkes is an active angel investor, investing and looking for high-growth opportunities in the information technology and biotechnology sectors. He is a partner in Tech North Inc., a business advisory and investment firm located in Toronto, Ontario where he invests, mentors, raises capital and advises business owners and investment funds. Mr. Wilkes is the Past Chairman and a Founding Member of the National Angel Capital Organization (NACO). He is active on numerous Boards of Directors with private and public sector businesses and volunteer organizations. Andy is an active long distance runner
