About this event
For High School Students, your parent/guardian's consent is required during registration.
Hack Frost NL invites students to participate in an exciting weekend to learn new skills, connect with a community of tech enthusiasts, and lead their own project.
No matter your experience level, this hackathon is for you!
Below are the answers to some Frequently Asked Questions, but you are encouraged to join our Discord (https://discord.gg/x5drWuwTT4) where all communications before and during the hackathon will take place:
- What is a hackathon? A hackathon is an opportunity to learn new concepts about tech and apply them to some cool ideas. These ideas are formulated to create things like websites, apps, or unthinkable solutions to a problem related to the hackathon's challenge prompt.
- How much does it cost to participate in Hack Frost NL? Hack Frost NL is FREE for all participants.
- Who can register? Registration is open for university/college students and high school students.
- Do I need a team? Yes, teams are required. Maximum team size is 4. We strongly encourage you to form a team of 3-4 people. When you register, you can create a team, join an already existing team, or sign up individually. If you sign up individually, we will be hosting a team-forming session at the beginning of the hackathon on Discord (https://discord.gg/x5drWuwTT4).
- Will the event be held online or in-person? The event will be held fully online this year as well. Your safety is important to us. Discord will be used as the main communication platform (https://discord.gg/x5drWuwTT4).
- I don’t have a strong coding experience, can I still participate? Of course! The event is much more than just programming. Focus on having fun and challenging yourself to learn a new concept that you can apply to your project, even if you spend all weekend doing workshops. If you formed connections or learned something, you had a successful hackathon.
- What are the prizes? $6000 will be divided between the top 3 teams
- Will there be swag and merchandise? Yes, every participant gets SWAG (stuff we all get)! We will set up a limited-quantity booth at Memorial University before the event and another booth after the event with the rest of the swag items for pickup.
