The literal translation of mashiach or messiah is “anointed.” Anointing is a ritual of consecrating something or someone with holy oil. For many, the ritual of attending our annual performance of The Messiah is a way to embrace and absorb the sacred story of the birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For others, the ritual creates a sacred space for the solo human voice, for inspired choruses, for the sounds and the ancient words of a 280-year-old tradition. For others, who may attend The Messiah for the first time, we hope that you will be blessed by the energy, poignancy, and glory of this music.

Featuring: Shannon McCracken (soprano), Martina Myskohlid (mezzo), Jacob Abrahamse (tenor), Alex Halliday (bass); accompanied by Ian Sadler (organ), Paul Otway (trumpet), and Douglas Sutherland (trumpet)

Concert sponsor: Stewart Morrison Insurance
