Event Details

The inspiration for creating Handmade Holiday came from my tradition of making homemade Christmas gifts and decorations every year for my family. I take a lot of pride in creating something unique to fit each person's personality and taste. My hope is to teach and inspire people to take a DIY approach to the holidays.

Make it personal, make it meaningful, make it your own!

Light refreshments will be served at all events!

Workshops in this series:

Succulent Picture Frame

SUNDAY, DECEMEBER 1st

Make a living work of art to hang on your wall!

Succulents are probably one of the easiest plants to care for since they store moisture in their leaves and can be left for long periods of time without being watered. This also makes them very slow-growing. They are beautiful in their range of hues and textures, and are perfect for bringing a bit of greenery into your home. Join us as we learn the basics of planting and caring for these no-fuss plants. We will be working with 4"x6" frames.

Class Instructor: Stephanie Trotter

Metal Jewellery

SUNDAY, DECEMEBER 8th

One-of-a-kind brass, copper & leather jewellery made by you!

We will be using a chemical etching process to create unique metal jewellery. Using a permanent ink resist, designs are made by either hand drawing an image, or using rubber stamp patterns. While the metal is being etched in the chemical bath, you will be able to try your hand at some leather work to incorporate into your finished piece! To finish it off, you will add a patina to the metal, and file down any sharp edges for a completly smooth and polished piece. In 3 hours you will leave with a ready to wear product! You will be able to make at least two pieces of jewellery in the class time.

Class Instructor: Ryan Consell

Needle Felting Figurines

SUNDAY, DECEMEBER 15th

You'll be hooked on needle felting after taking this intro class!

This class will introduce you to a few basic shapes and joining techniques which are the building blocks of sculptural needle felting. This project includes a mason jar which will be lit up with a battery powered LED module. You will be able to create any figurine your heart desires (not limited to snowmen)!

Class Instructor: Agnes Niewiadomski

Wrap It Up

Don't forget to join us for our final workshop in the series...

WRAP IT UP!

Jen and Danielle of In Paper Dreams will be joining us, and will have THREE Silhouette paper cutting machines running. We will have lots of paper, stamps, ribbons, punches, scissors, tape, and embellishing goodies for all. The wrapping possibilities are endless!

Only $5 to participate...pay at the door & cash only please!

FAQs

Is there an age limit to enter the event?

Children 12 and under should probably come accompanied by an adult. The plant workshop is safe for all ages. The metal workshop will involve serious chemicals for etching, and the needle felting will use very sharp barbed needles.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

There are a few parking spots available behind and at the side of the kwartzlab building. Street parking is also available (please pay attention to signage).

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please email me directly with any questions or concerns at agnes.niewiadomski@gmail.com

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes. If you can no longer attend you may pass your ticket on to someone else. Please notify us ahead of the event if you are doing so to avoid any confusion at sign-in.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes. You can update anytime before the event.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No need to print your ticket. We will have a list and sign you in when you arrive.

What is the refund policy?

Sorry, refunds are not available for this event. If notified in advance, it is possible to be transfered to another workshop if spots are available, or to a future Agnes Makes Event. I plan on offering more classes throughout the year for most of the major Holidays.

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Yes, but please let us know if you are purchasing as a gift or need to transfer your ticket to someone else because of a last minute conflict so that we can keep our records straight.
