Harvest: 48 Hour Zombie Survival Game
Fri, 23 Jun 2017, 4:00 PM – Sun, 25 Jun 2017, 2:00 PM MDT
Do you think you have what it takes to go against zombies in a post-apocalyptic world? Have you ever watched TV or played a Video Game and said, "I could do better?"
Now's your time to shine, wastelander!
You'll be getting into a 48 hour simulation where we've gamified the zombie apocalypse with pyrotechnics and more! At this event you will be allowed to fight for your nuclear-riddled life with foam weapons and the zombies will be allowed to take a swing back! Run from the horde of the undead on 160 acres of land, have your ears glued to the radio for clues and hints on where to go next with our own mutant DJ, take a break at Dante's Inferno Tavern and buy cool things from across the wastes by Vendors- all just in time to stay awake all night and make sure the Raiders don't take your hard earned treasure by lighting it on fire.
STUFF YOU SHOULD KNOW IF YOU'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE:
This event is known as a "LARP" (Live Action Role Play), and it's essentially where you decide that yeah, I want to try my hand at living a video game in real life. So you get together with other likeminded folks, Camp out for a weekend, you put on a costume and get out there and bash the brains out of the undead horde.
The people who run it are called Game Masters and they work hard at making the explosions real, the zombies real, and the stories fun. At the end of the weekend, you will have not only gotten a great amount of exercise from dodging the undead, but also made some sweet sweet memories and come out as the ultimate survivor. Mad Max has got nothing on you, bub!
Because you'll be playing pretend all weekend, there's a bunch of stuff you can do to get involved and should know, so read on!
1) Just like a video game, you get to make a character! Take a lookie-loo at our handy-dandy rulebook and decide how into it you want to get. You can come out as just yourself in the apocalypse and bash zombies, or dig right into the meat of the game and make an alien, robot or more at www.harvestlarp.com
Yes! We're weird! We <3 it! Come be weird with us!
2) We are doing this outside and yes, there will be explosions and yes, you're going to be doing a lot of running or fighting. You should make sure you can be a part of this sporting event, and bring camping gear. Food and Water is a must- but if you are tired of beans and water, the Tavern has good eats available.
3) You don't have to be super buff or in great shape to do this. The cool thing about LARP games is that anyone can play, even though it involves running. The idea of LARP is that anyone who wants to try and actually pick up a (foam) sword, and fight something? They're on the same level ground as someone who does cross fit. It's why there are rules to keep the playing field even and why making a character is important. Just like a video game, everyone coming to play has Hitpoints ( we call them body points or BP for short) and Attack points (AP for short) that they can dish out, even the zombies.
