Event description
An evening community potluck of dishes made with ethically foraged or homegrown food, with Indigenous teachings about land and reciprocity.

About this Event

August is a month of abundance - with so many fruits and veggies in season, it's a great time to join in on the harvest and make a delicious meal for friends and family. On August 22nd, come celebrate with us and share in the summer abundance at our third seasonal Foragers' Feast of the year!

This community potluck welcomes everybody to bring a dish to share that contains at least one ingredient that was ethically foraged or grown by the maker. We encourage a closer relationship with our food, slowing down and enjoying food, and meeting others who also care about local slow food.

Join us with a potluck item, or share in the abundance and practice your growing or ethical foraging skills for next time. REGISTRATION IS MANDATORY!

Not sure what "ethically foraged" means? Before picking anything, make extra sure you know what it is. NEVER pick anything you’re unsure of. To respect the plants and the ecosystem, only take what you need, and never more than one-third of the patch.

The event will also feature live music from Zlatna Mountain, a group of local musicians who play and sing Balkan folk music.

The Harvest Abundance Forager's Feast is the third of four seasonal community potlucks scheduled at the Alder Eco-Arts Hub for 2019. The New Shoots feast was in March; the Summer Solstice feast was in June; and the Fungi Feast will be in October. All are free or by donation.

The Alder Eco-Arts Hub is an East Vancouver Fieldhouse Studio generously donated by the Vancouver Parks Board, and shared by Still Moon Arts Society, Resurfacing History, and the Still Creek Streamkeepers. We are funded by a grant from the BC Arts Council. The building and bathrooms are accessible, with no stairs and wide doorways.
