Description

Join us as we Pickle the Summer's Harvest on September 13th with a harvest table dinner featuring the duo behind Well Preserved, Chef's Dana Harrison and Joel MacCharles and our guest winery Rosewood! Together with the Gladstone's Chef de Cuisine, Rudy Boquila and Sous Chef Anne Novo, the chefs and local food advocates will be incorporating seasonal produce picked just the day before from Chick-a-biddy Acres C.S.A. and other Ontario producer partners.

About Harvest Wednesdays

Harvest Wednesdays is a local culinary series that showcases local produce each week through a series of seasonal food events. Working alongside guest chefs, community organizations and local producers, Harvest Wednesdays sparks conversations about eating locally for global change, bridging the gap between urban and rural and of course, enjoying seasonal Ontario produce, picked from the land just the day before. We are thrilled to be including our friends at The New Farm for this very special dinner!

About Chef’s Dana Harrison and Joel MacCharles from WellPreserved

Joel is a home cook and writer. He loves to cook a great meal, but beyond that he is passionate about learning, understanding the impact of our food choices, getting to know where food comes from and the people who help bring it to the table. This passion has resulted in over 1700 articles and recipes shared through several online communities anchored by wellpreserved.ca. Joel’s love of food takes him into the woods to forage and hunt, to meet farmers and chefs, and to explore the culture around food.

Dana’s love of great food is only matched by her love for tasty design. She’s been working as a professional graphic designer for almost 2 decades and eating for as long as she can remember. So she knows that both great food and great design make life better and she’s happy to have a hand in that wherever possible. As the Creative Director for WellPreserved she makes sure everything looks as good as it tastes, she’s also a good sous chef, dishwasher, instigator, connector and organizer.

WellPreserved was created on December 27, 2008 and is currently an archive of more than 1,700 articles. We write about topics that are broadly food-related including hunting, urban gardening, foraging, food security, small farms, farmers markets, sustainable fish, and of course preserving among many other things. WellPreserved is an extension of our kitchen and our life together. The project has grown into a life-changing experience for us.

About Rosewood Winery

Rosewood's viticulture & winemaking philosophy is very simple – Earth to Bottle. As farmers of flavours everything they do in the vineyard is in pursuit of great flavour, concentration and balance in the grapes grown. They also want their impact on the natural environment and surroundings to be negligible. This viticulture philosophy leads them to tend to the vines by hand to achieve optimal soil health and vine balance.

Rosewood are also sustainable beekeeper, a practice that has been at the core of the Roman family for three generations. Today this tradition is kept alive by continuing to incorporate innovative and sustainable practices to maintain healthy and productive hives.
