Event Details

Our next Harvest Table Dinner will feature guest Chef Kristin Donovan from Hooked. Together with the Gladstone's Chef de Cuisine, Rudy Boquila and Sous Chef Anne Novo, the chefs and local food advocates will be incorporating seasonal produce picked just the day before from Chick-a-biddy Acres C.S.A. and other Ontario producer partners to prepare a sumptuous seafood feast!

ABOUT KRISTIN DONOVAN

Kristin Donovan opened Hooked, her fish store co-owned with partner Dan in March 2011 in the Leslieville neighbourhood. The pair are chefs first - professional cooks (met while studying at the Stratford Chefs School). They and their team have years of experience with food as cooks, chefs, restaurateurs, caterers, wine educators and culinary teachers - and love seafood!

For a number of years, they have been part of a shift in the chef community that is bypassing the traditional supply chain and buying directly from producers. It is both quality choice and a need to clarify where their food comes from; how it was handled and why. They are proud to deal personally with their local fish farmers and Great Lakes fishers, know exactly where their fish was caught, how and when.

ABOUT HARVEST WEDNESDAYS

Harvest Wednesdays is a local culinary series inspired by the Gladstone’s long-time investment in four ‘shares’ of a local Community Shared Agriculture Farm, Chick-a-biddy Acres Farms. By showcasing their local produce each week alongside guest chefs, community organizations and local producers, Harvest Wednesdays sparks conversations about Community Shared Agriculture, eating locally for global change, bridging the gap between urban and rural and of course, enjoying seasonal Ontario produce, picked from the land just the day before.

What is Community Shared Agriculture (C.S.A.)?
Community Shared Agriculture allows city residents to have direct access to high quality, fresh produce grown locally by regional farmers. When you become a member of a CSA, you're purchasing a “share” of vegetables from a regional farmer. It is a relationship of shared bounty and shared risk.

ABOUT TRAYNOR FAMILY VINEYARDS

Mike Traynor purchased the property in 2008. It was a frozen cornfield, and he could see his vision from that very moment. A beautiful bright space with friendly faces, delicious lunches and of course award winning wines.

Mike started in the wine industry in 1997, beginning in primary roles such as a laborer, and through strong work ethic, education, and craftsmanship he worked his way up to being Canada’s youngest winemaker at the age of 22.

Mike’s dedication to creating high-quality wines in Prince Edward County is evident, but his passion and love for farming is something you can only imagine unless you meet the man himself.
