Webinar 1: Talking Sport and Inclusion with the Coaches Association of Ontario

About this Event

Join us for a discussion on diversity and inclusion in sport with our host for the webinar- the Coaches Association of Ontario. This discussion, featured during National Coaches Week, will focus on how Hijabi Ballers got started and the gaps it fills in the community sport space, specifically from a coaching and mentorship perspective. Hodan Hussein, Hijabi Ballers’ Sunday Basketball Head Coach, along with Amreen Kadwa, Hijabi Ballers’ Executive Director, will provide tips for coaches and community leaders on how to make their programs more inclusive and welcoming to different community groups. This webinar is open to all but it is a must-see for all community coaches and sports organizers!

In March 2020, sport came to a stop because of the pandemic, and so did our highly anticipated Hijabi Ballers Community Conference. We adapted to this new reality and have been exchanging ideas with one another on how we can bring this conference to you all.

In partnership with Ryerson University’s GSX we are now presenting you with: Hijabi Ballers ❗ VIRTUAL❗Community Conference! The conference themed “Integrate. Advocate. Mobilize.” will feature live webinars, panel discussions and interactive activities throughout an entire month - all online on our various platforms.

Our first webinar takes place during National Coaches Week. In partnership with the Coaches Association of Ontario, we're talking sport and inclusion. Hijabi Ballers' own Amreen Kadwa participates in this Q&A panel to answer your questions on the various challenges athletes from different backgrounds and religions face in Canadian sport and what supports are needed.

This month-long Hijabi Ballers virtual Community Conference is open to all!

Join us we Integrate Muslim female athletes into the sports sphere, learn to Advocate for them and Mobilize for change together. #IAM2020
