Course Description

This two-day program is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of CCSA Auditor candidates. This training program introduces participants to the 8 elements found in a Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) that meets the expectations of the Certificate of Recognition (COR) Audit. The program examines the standards that have been established for each of these elements, in addition to any legislative requirements.

Upon completion of the program, candidates will be able to identify and assess the fundamental aspects of a company’s safety program. Completion of this program is the first step for individuals wanting to become a Certified CCSA Internal or External COR Auditor.

Course topics include:

  • Overview of the Partnerships in Injury Reduction (PIR) program
  • The purpose and benefits of an effective Health and Safety Management System
  • Required elements of a PIR compliant Health and Safety Management System
  • The PIR/COR Audit standards for each of the required elements

Review of the applicable sections of the OHS Act, Regulation and Code; and applicable adopted standards for each of the required elements.

Certification:

This course has a written, open-book exam component. Participants must achieve a minimum score of 80% in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.

Tips for picking the right course:

  • Not sure if this is the right course for you?
    • Individuals who are looking to build or improve their organization’s safety program, regardless of COR, should consider taking the Safety Program Development two-day course.
    • Individuals who wish to become a Certified CCSA Auditor must take this course as a perquisite to the Auditor Training two-day course.

Still unsure? Please contact the CCSA at 780-433-5330 or at education@ab-ccsa.ca

Becoming a Certified CCSA Auditor:

To become a CCSA External or Internal Auditor, individuals must:

  • Complete the three-level program consisting of the two-day course as above (Certificate of Completion); the Auditor Training two-day course (Certificate of Completion); and a Qualification Audit Submission.
    • Qualification Audit Submission:

Participants must submit a qualification audit (individually conducted) within six months after completing the two-day Auditor Training course. If the Qualification Audit is approved by the CCSA Quality Assurance review, a CCSA Auditor Certificate will be issued.
