Event description

Description

Safety Manuals are an essential workplace reference guide no matter what the profession. It will contain potentially life-saving information. All workers, regardless of position, should know or have access to all company rules, policies, and procedures. Your Health and Safety Manual is a key tool in achieving a "Goal Zero" in accidents and incidents.

The sections are as follows:

Section 1- Legislative Requirements - October 19, 2017
This section describes the legislated responsibilities of the Owner and/or prime contractors as well as the responsibilities of the workers. It also describes the Company Health and Safety Policy.

Section 2- Hazard Assessment - November 16, 2017
This section provides information on hazard identification and assessment. Identifying and eliminating hazards is the most important element of a safety program and must be done at every work site to comply with Provincial regulations.

Section 3- Safe Work Practices - December 14, 2017
Once hazards are identified, procedures must be put into place to eliminate or mitigate the hazards. It is necessary to communicate that information to all affected workers. This section will deal with Codes of Practice, Safe Work Practices, and Safe Work Procedures.

Section 4- Training and Communication - January 18, 2018
This section will outline training requirements, orientations, records, and evaluations. Part of the Owner's responsibilities include ensuring their workers are adequately trained. We will talk about what this means to your business.

Section 5- Incidents - February 15, 2018
Accidents and incidents need to be reported and investigated. This section will talk about the legislative requirements as well as performance reports and injury frequency and severity rates.

Section 6- Emergency Response - March 15, 2018
Emergency preparedness and response and its purpose will be discussed in this section. We will talk about the classifications of emergencies and the legislative reporting requirements for each. A policy and plan must be in place in your Health and Safety Manual outlining the responsibilities of each.
