Event description

Description

Being able to read and manage your own emotions and those of others is essential in creating and maintaining a psychologically healthy and safe workplace. Emotional Intelligence (EI) has been a buzzword for a few years but what is it really? And, how do you develop it in yourself and others?

Dr. James Parker, faculty member in the Department of Psychology at Trent University has been studying this concept and will share his insights. At this breakfast session, the learning objectives include:

  1. Providing participants with a general understanding about what EI is and how it relates to a number of different emotional and social competencies.
  2. Developing an understanding of the role of EI in the workplace, with an emphasis on the role of EI in health and wellness.
  3. Gaining an understanding of how EI can be reliably assessed, as well as the practicalities of working to develop and enhance EI in self and others.

As usual, breakfast is served at 8 a.m. and the presentation will follow from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

If you have a special diet, pleast contact Joanne Racz-Hewitt at (705) 743-1000 ext 316 or jrhewitt@peterboroughpublichealth.ca by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017.
