Event description
An interactive and engaging workshop featuring lesser-known fields of healthcare

About this Event

The Health Sciences Workshop is an interactive and engaging workshop hosted by the Medical Laboratory Students' Association from the University of Alberta designed to give participants hands-on experience in several fields of health care.

Participants will be given the opportunity to cycle through stations pertaining to Medical Laboratory Science, Dental Hygiene, Radiation Therapy, and Pharmacy , each highlighting tasks and skills that a professional in that field would perform.

Participants will then be able to take part in activities such as assessing blood smears, use of basic dental hygiene tools, making head and neck shells, and how a pharmalocigal compound would be made. There will be an opportunity to ask questions about these programs and learn more about how to prepare for university.

This workshop provides students with the opportunity to learn more about the different sides of health care that are absolutely essential to providing effective patient care.

This event takes place on Saturday Feb 1, participants may choose to attend the first session from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm or the second session that goes from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. These sessions will be the same! Both morning and afternoon sessions will be split into four groups, so if you would like to participate with your friends please get tickets in the same group! Registration will start half an hour before each session so please arrive early.
