Help My Grandma Day is a digital video contest for postsecondary students in BC that encourages intergenerational volunteerism and careers in health technology.

On September 30th, join students, seniors, and health technology professionals at the launch of Help My Grandma Day! All community members are invited to take part in the launch.

The contest asks young people to help build a healthier and more caring British Columbia by taking a day to help an older adult and document it with a digital video. The top videos will be selected by peers and seniors to win big prizes -- including $6000 in tuition!

If you are an international student or otherwise want to help someone other than your grandparents, we can introduce you to local seniors.

At the launch event on September 30:

  1. Register to compete in the digital video contest
  2. Hear from local speakers about intergenerational volunteerism and ways we can help build a healthier community together
  3. Hear from health technology professionals about career opportunities in digital health
  4. Find community groups and older adults to volunteer with.

The contest is presented by Digital Health Circle, a new not-for-profit organization based in Surrey, BC.

The contest launches on September 30 at Simon Fraser University's Surrey Campus. Students will have four months to create and submit a 2-3 minute videos. In January 2020, winners will receive $6000 in prizes, including tuition and gift cards, at a screening and award ceremony.
