Event description

Description

Join us for a volunteer day at Hendrick Farm! This is your chance to find yourself in a beautiful setting, get a little (or a lot of) dirt under those fingernails, and receive a FREE introduction to organic market farming. You will spend three hours with Farm Manager Sean Lacroix and the other volunteers engaging in everyday farm work - weeding, harvesting, and more - before joining him for lunch and a 30-minute workshop on FALL HARVEST + WINTER SOIL PREP - how to store your fall harvest, and preparing your garden/vegetable patch for the blustering Canadian cold!

WHAT TO BRING

  • You’re going to get dirty, so don’t wear anything you would be scared to stain!

  • Boots or work boots are an asset

  • Gardening gloves

  • A hat and sunscreen (that sun can get hot!)

  • Water bottle

PROVIDED

  • Tools

  • Workshop & necessary tools

  • BBQ Lunch*

*IF YOU HAVE ANY ALLERGIES OR DIETARY RESTRICTIONS PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL TO volunteer@hendrickfarm.ca after you have registered.

BIO - SEAN LACROIX

Having spent four years working in orchards and vineyards around British Columbia, and another three focusing on urban agriculture in Montreal, Sean Lacroix was the perfect fit to take on the role of Farm Manager at Hendrick Farm. Five years later, his love for introducing an ever-growing list of produce varieties to the region remains strong.

NOTE: In order to ensure an authentic experience for everyone, we ask that children under the age of 10 not participate in this particular volunteer day and that any children below the age of 16 be accompanied by an adult (both must register).
