Heritage Tomorrow NL (previously Youth Heritage NL) is pleased to announce that our third annual Heritage Forum is coming up!
Here are the need to knows:
What: A fun Forum that is only $10 AND includes food. FOOD!
When: March 25th, 2017 from 10am-2pm.
Where: The Lantern, 35 Barnes Road, St. John’s, NL
Why: You enjoy heritage, culture, and history? You want to learn some “heritage skills” and compete for prizes? You been thinking about a career in the heritage and culture sector, but you aren’t sure where to start? Your friends are going? We will accept all answers!
Participants will again get to take part in a Heritage Skills Competition, now with a whole new range of activities, such as:
Cross-stitch with Katherine Harvey;
Inuit games with Peter Geetah;
Ceramic Conservation Treatment with Dr. Lisa Daly;
Casting a Net with Alex Howse; and
Storytelling/Recitation with Dale Jarvis.
New this year is the networking lunch “Adultier Adults Shop Talk“, where participants can meet with young professionals in the heritage industry and create contacts with others interested in similar heritage fields. We are pleased to have the following people facilitating sessions:
Heather Elliott on museums;
Nicole Penney on archives;
Michael Philpott on built heritage;
Crystal Braye on folklore;
Jeremy Moyle on archaeology;
Dr. Lisa Daly on tours and Interpretation; and
Terra Barrett on community engagement.
A social will take place in the evening after the forum for those interested.
