Event description
A LECTURE BY RABBI GILA CAINE

About this Event

As is the case in many ancient cultures, Judaism sees animals and humans on one continuum, and in deep emotional relationship to each other. In this talk Rabbi Gila Cain will present an understanding of religion as a way for taking our emotions and ideals and turning them into reality. She will discuss legal texts, legends, and rituals from within the Jewish Culture, to explore the ways in which the tradition limits human tendencies towards violence and misuse of those who are weaker than us and under our care. Born and raised in Jesusalem, Rabbi Caine graduated from Hebrew University with a Masters in Contemporary Judaism and received her rabbinic ordination at the Hebrew Union College in 2001. Rabbi Caine serves Temple Beth Ora Synagoue in Edmonton.
