Hidden in plain sight – Bow River flood protection in Eau Claire

Did you know the newly constructed West Eau Claire Park and promenade is as functional as it is beautiful? Hidden in the landscape and curving wooden benches lies river flood protection that significantly reduces flood risk for downtown. This work is now being extended east towards Edmonton Trail.

Join City staff on a walk from the Peace Bridge to Centre Street that will reveal these design elements in completed projects. You will discover several new additions to the area, their hidden functions and benefits. You will also have the opportunity on this walk to learn about other work that is reducing flood risk across the City, as well as how Calgarians can prepare for flooding.
