Event Details

The 5th Annual Hike the Highlands Festival will take place September 12-21. This year's festival will feature 24 guided hikes over 10 days, evening presentations, opening and closing closing ceremonies and a bonfire on a full moon night.

Hike the Highlands Festival has been recognized by Nova Scotia Dept. of Tourism, Culture & Heritage as a Nova Scotia Signature Festival & Event in 2008. This recognition is a credit to our team of volunteers, guides & sweeps, partners, sponsors and of course ....the hikers.

This year's festival features an additional six guided hikes that includes new trails such as Money Point, and popular trails brought back from previous years such as Cape Smokey, and the Clyburn Valley. Hikers should bring  the following equipment - hiking boots, a daypack, sunglasses, camera, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and a jacket. Sorry no dogs are allowed on the hikes.

The festival's blog is now updated weekly to keep hikers informed on this year's festival.

Our festival committee looks forward to welcoming and meeting you at our 5th Annual Hike the Highlands Festival Sept. 12-21. Our registration will open on July 23. New in 2008, hikers will be able to purchase both the Hiking Festival Pass & Cape Breton Highlands National Park entry pass from our festival - online, mail or at registration desk.

Note: You will pick up your hiking festival pass and national park entry permit at the festival headquarters - the Heather room at Glenghorm Beach Resort, Ingonish.
