Hiking the Bruce Trail – Section 1 - The cairn at Queenston until Woodend Conservation

The Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath, provides the only continuous public access to the magnificent Niagara Escarpment, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Running along the Escarpment from Niagara to Tobermory, it spans more than 890 km of main Trail and over 400 km of associated side trails. (http://brucetrail.org/pages/about-us)

Blue Carrot Adventures is planning a Bruce Trail through hike for groups, at the rate of two excursions per month, with an average distance of 8 to 12 Km per excursion. It will take around 85 excursions to cover the total distance of the trail from Niagara all the way Tobermory. If time permits, every excursion will include a visit to a site close to the trail.

On Saturday, the 24th of June, 2017, BLUE CARROT ADVENTURES is organizing HIKE #1 on the first section on the Bruce Trail.

We will start our hike at the cairn at Queenston until Woodend Conservation, covering a total distance of 15.2 km passing by the NIAGARA COLLEGE TEACHING WINERY for wine tasting if we still have the time after the hike.

The trail begins to travel throughout a woodland belt and across farmland before heading northward along the ancient shores of Lake Iroquois reaching the pedestrian bridge across the QEW funded by the province of Ontario, the region of Niagara and the Bruce Trail donors.
