Description

Hishinksapi (Gather), Na-aatah (Listen), Hishumyilth (Assemble), Hupiicstal (Help each other), Iisaak (Respect): Reflections on team building supported by a MSFHR Convening and Collaborating (C2) Grant.

This event will share the process and outcome of team-building among Nuu-Chah-Nulth (NCN) community members, Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribal Council (NTC) health representatives, the NCN nursing team, representatives from the First Nations Health Authority, Island Health, and nursing academics from North Island University, Thompson Rivers University and the University of Victoria, with the shared goal of understanding and improving wellness experiences of NCN community members.

The C2 grant and team building led to a successful CIHR Indigenous Catalyst Grant this year. The presenters will discuss ways in which this grant will continue the work of developing nursing care delivery in the remote communities of the NCN, with a focus on traditional Nuu-Chah-Nulth knowledge and ways of being.
