Event description

Description

In this age of ubiquitous cell phone cameras, get back to the origins of the craft.

Make beautiful and archival Cyanotype prints on fine art paper from photographic/digital negatives or shadowgrams from found objects. Explore the Cyanotype process that was invented by Sir John Herschel in 1843. Bring it to the 21st century.

The instructor for this workshop, Rick Retzlaff, is a Teacher, Engineer and (kind of) an Artist. He custom builds weird equipment like rotary circuit cameras, ultra-large-format cameras, and pinhole cameras. He prints with various alternative processes including Van Dyck Brown, Cyanotype and Platinum. His work resides in many private collections, as well as the permanent collection of the Saskatchewan Arts Board.
