Event Information
About this event
Looking for an entertaining, socially-distant evening out with friends or co-workers over the holidays?
Immerse yourself in the History of Cannabis with a unique smoke session and delicious dinner at Calgary’s historic Heritage Park.
This three-hour, adults-only outdoor tour is led by Dave Dormer, a journalist and researcher who has spent more than 20 years delving into the world of cannabis.
Dinner is served in a beautiful and private indoor setting and education and consumption is done outdoors, around the warmth of a fire pit.
Tours run from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesdays through Saturdays with a maximum of 10 people each night.
The adventure begins with a visit to a dispensary, FivePoint Cannabis in Calgary's Bridgeland neighbourhood, then you’ll be transported back in time to Heritage Park where consumption is allowed as we explore the 12,000-year History of Cannabis.
You’ll learn the story of how it grew from being used as a textile by neolithic people into the recreational and underground markets we see around the world. today.
Read some of the earliest books to mention Cannabis, learn about the advent of Hashish and the creation of the modern cannabis industry, see a copy of the hand-written court record of one of the first Canadians convicted of importing and trafficking nearly a century ago, and more.
Education and consumption will be outdoors and dinner will be served at an indoor space during the winter season (November-April).
COVID-19 health measures are in place while the pandemic is ongoing. Proof of vaccination is required to enter Heritage Park and masks must be worn in the CannaVan.
Pick-up and drop-off is at the public square outside FivePoint Cannabis (945 General Avenue N.E.)
