December 2 – HIV Core Training: Facts, Stats, and Common Myths:
In this first module, we will provide an overview of HIV Community Link's programs and services for people living with and at risk for HIV and other blood-borne infections. Definitions and clarification of HIV and AIDS nuances will be shared. We will discuss HIV facts, myths and provide updates on the epidemiology of HIV in Canada and Alberta.
December 9 – HIV Core Training: The Prevention & Treatment Toolbox:
The training includes an overview of current HIV/STI prevention tools and practice, how STIs increase risk for HIV transmission, current biomedical HIV prevention options, and prevention options related to substance use. The discussion will focus on the importance of STI testing, early diagnosis and connection to care and treatment.
January 13 – HIV Core Training: What to Know Before you Go:
Module 3 of our series, Testing & Transmission, will provide information about HIV testing models, including the next steps for a positive result. The presentation includes an overview of the HIV transmission model. We will discuss new emerging testing models and who can benefit from these models. Join us and get a greater understanding of what you need to know before you go.
January 20 – HIV Core Training: Health, Stigma, & Harm Reduction:
Module 4 of our series, Harm Reduction Principles, Social Determinants of Health and Stigma, will focus on harm reduction practices and the impacts of social determinants of health. We will discuss stigma in general and the broader implications of HIV-related stigma for health outcomes.
