Understanding Tenants Who Hoard and Best Practices for Landlords

Speakers:

Dr. Hanna McCabe-Bennett, clinical psychologist in supervised practice at the WSIB Specialty Clinic at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. Dr. McCabe-Bennett will discuss hoarding-related disorders and tips for how to respond to hoarding situations in rental housing from a clinical perspective.

Wade Poziomka, Partner at Ross and McBride. Wade is a human rights lawyer with experience advising landlords in Hamilton on complex hoarding matters. Wade will discuss hoarding in the context of both the Residential Tenancies Act and the Human Rights Code to help landlords establish best practices and reduce frustration/costs/liability when dealing with tenants who hoard.

Panel discussion with Q&A to follow with Dr. McCabe-Bennett, Wade Poziomka and Sharon Crowe of Hamilton Community Legal Clinic. Moderated by Morgan Stanek of Housing Help Centre.
