FAQs
Didn't this event used to be free?
General admission is priced at $10 after 7:00 p.m. This is new, and is the first time we have charged for admission. We were no longer able to secure sponsorship that allowed for free entry. If you can't afford the $10, please arrive before 7:00 p.m. We wanted to keep the evening celebration free for families in the early 5-7p.m., although we do welcome donations. We think we have an excellent line-up that is worth lots more.
How will you know if I am a VIP member of the Scottish Society of Ottawa?
We have a list of members, and only our SSO-VIP members are elegible for the discounted VIP Experience tickets, and this includes all ticket-holders - one SSO-VIP member can not buy tickets for 12 of her friends. We know who you are! General members and the public can still purchase VIP tickets, but not at a discounted price. SSO-VIP membership does have a priviledge! Become an SSO-VIP member today!
And really, we work hard to keep the costs down, and we are a non-profit Society, so please try to be nice!
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Hogman-eh! is a family event, open to all ages, as is the VIP Experience. This year all tickets have the same price regardless of age. Tickets for alcohol will only be issued to those 19 years of age and over. Under 19 patrons will receive tickets for non-alcoholic beverages in the VIP area.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Please don't drive if you are going to be drinking. Take the bus, or a cab, a bike or an Uber. For those who have a designated driver, limited parking is available on the Lansdowne site. For details on how to get to Lansdowne Park, visit https://ottawa.ca/en/lansdowne#getting-lansdowne. For parking options, please visit https://ottawa.ca/en/parking-roads-and-travel/parking or https://www.tdplace.ca/parking/.
You could consider staying over at the Lord Elgin Hotel - they are a sponsor of Hogman-eh! and will give you a great rate if you book throught this link: https://reservations.travelclick.com/12200?DateOut=&Adults=&Children=&killcookie=1&identifier=hogmany&languageid=1#/guestsandrooms
What can I bring into the event?
Please bring a great attitude and a smile! A warm coat will help when we go outdoors at midnight to enjoy the fireworks. Outside food and drink (non-alcoholic) is permitted, although we will have fantastic food and drink vendors on site. For those purchasing VIP tickets, we hope that we will be able to treat you well and you won't need anything else!
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Send us an email at hogmanehdirector@gmail.com.
What's the refund policy?
We do not offer refunds. We will keep a waiting list, and we may be able to transfer your VIP tickets (no guarantees) if you can't atttend. We are a non-profit organization, and we need to keep things simple.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, you will need your proof of purchase to get in after 9:00 and/or to access the VIP Experience area.
Is it okay if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?
Yes and no. The discounted SSO-VIP tickets can only be transferred to another SSO-VIP member, unless they are willing to ppurchase a membership at the door. For General-VIP Experience tickets, the answer is yes - as long as you have paid, someone else can attend using your ticket. For General Admission tickets, the answer is yes.
