Dan Baldwin

Dan started as an entrepreneur about 10 years ago, with not much more than the belief that he could do it. It took a while to convince himself that he could be an entrepreneur too. But he soon learned that all you really need is confidence, to be crafty and intelligent. This story is about how he turned a replica WWF Championship belt into two growing businesses.

Dan was originally inspired by this story: It's a story of someone who started out with just a paperclip. He kept making trades, and eventually cashed out with a house. Dan thought that was amazing and he began investigating what he could trade and come up with.

What started as a belt, turned into an arcade machine, which became several arcade machines, and led to a retro arcade business, Halifax Vintage Arcades. Eventually, the arcade business evolved into a corner store, the corner store grew into two, ultimately leading to Halifax VR, and now Precise Reality Inc.

Halifax VR is a the first virtual reality lounge east of Ottawa, and is the second in Canada. Halifax VR is going into its fourth year of business, and has six part-time employees and one full-time employee during the summer months.

Precise Reality Inc. is a software company specializing in developing rehabilitation software for people with disabilities. They ar currently working with the IWK to develop a power wheelchair training program, and will be commercializing the products.
