A great holiday season includes cookies! So, we're holding a cookie swap at the Hastings Park Farmers Market at the PNE Fair Grounds. Its ever so handy to have a swap at the farmers market the weekend before Christmas because you can do your holiday dinner and entertaining-supplies shopping while you're at it!
A cookie swap! This time around we're sticking to cookies - please don't sign up if you don't want to make and exchange cookies. (NOTE: Please read the important cookie swap rules below)
We welcome everyone - and there is no charge to participate. You must pre-register to attend. If you plan to bring a family member or friend who will be swapping their own cookies, please register them separately. Kids and partners are welcome to attend with you - the swap space will be smallish - especially if it is raining.
Sunday, December 18, 11am - 12:30pm
Hastings Park Farmers Market at the PNE - the market will be setup North of the Forum Building. Parking is available for the farmers market so if you're driving, enter at Gate 2 off Renfrew St and tell the attendant that you there for the farmers market and you'll be directed to free parking. When you arrive, if you don't see the cookie swap tent, just ask at the red Market Information Tent.
There is no fee for the swap.
This time around, the rules are being adapted from The Cookie-Exchange.com - a little different than our usual food swaps but designed to make this event worthwhile for everyone:
All cookies should be homemade and baked. Gluten-free, nut free and vegan cookies are welcome and should be labelled.
No plain chocolate chip or other types of plain drop cookies, cookie mixes or no-bakes
Please bring 4 dozen cookies of one or two types (ie. 24 of each of 2 varieties). We'll determine how many of each type of cookie each person will take home once we know how many people will be attending. You can bring more than 48 but you might end up taking some of your own cookies home at the end.
The theme is "Holiday" so as mentioned above, raise your cookie game! Try a new recipe or a tried-and-true family heirloom.
Arrange cookies in a basket or platter! (If you have tongs, please bring them!) Bring a large container to carry away your cookies. Expect to take home the same number of cookies that you bring.
Email your recipe or bring hard copies to the swap.
Sign up as soon as you can and let us know what type of cookies you are planning on baking - no duplicate recipes are allowed (boring!)
If you don't have time to bake, or have burnt your cookies, but still want to attend, you must go to a real bakery and buy 4 dozen yummy cookies.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Roberta at email@example.com
