Home is Where the Balance Begins
Mon, 17 April 2017, 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM EDT
This is a lead-up event to the People's Climate March on April 29, hosted by Toronto350, and facilitated by the wonderful Alexandra Sproule!
A creative reflection on everyday interactions with our environment
Join us for a fun, quirky, thought-provoking workshop in which we spend some time with everyday objects, in order to better understand our connection to the planet. How are we exploiting our environment? What nurtures our environment? When are we in balance with our environment?
Take a microscope to the way you relate to a ‘thing’ in your home, and reflect on what it tells you about your relationship with the many cycles of life that you are a part of. We will watch part of a play, discuss our 'things' and our environment, look at some frameworks, and play with your choice of painting, crafting, or poetry.
Find new opportunities for climate action in what often seems mundane - plus exercise creative muscles and have fun!
Date: April 17
Time: Doors open at 6:30. Workshop runs 7:00-9:00
Place: The Watah Theatre, 9 Trinity St, unit #317 (in the Distillery District)
What to bring: A transportable appliance, tool, object, or (if you’re ambitious) small piece of furniture from the place you call home. The more mundane you think it is, the better.
Snacks provided. Feel free to bring snacks to share!
Register here to receive updates and reminders. Drops-ins welcome and no artistic skill required!
