WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
Everyone has connections to a story, but which stories get heard or recorded? In this 1.5-hour workshop, participants will learn how to create 6-word stories prompted by family sayings or idioms. The workshop will consist of developing 6-word stories through collage work and stop-motion videos.
This workshop will prioritize accessibility, community, and equity by creating an environment for participants to explore methods of storytelling and engage with popular education pedagogy. Through storytelling, participants will partake in mutual sharing and learning while learning various digital skills.
Participants are more than welcome to bring their own materials they're willing to use for the collage-making!
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Jasmine and Kelly started an archival initiative called TACLA (The Asian Canadian Living Archive). This initiative believes in using our creative abilities to engage, expand, and critique the work of our elders, and tell our own stories to forge different ways within a decolonial praxis.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Indigenous, Black and People of Colour communities are disproportionately underrepresented in all media. How do past images unearthed from personal and institutional archives come to shape new stories?
The Home Made Visible tour brings a personal lens to Indigenous and visible minority archives through FREE exhibitions, screenings, and workshops in libraries across Canada. Visit HomeMadeVisible.ca/Tour
