About this event
Art Gallery of St. Albert provides fun, educational art programs instructed by professional art instructors right in the heart of downtown St. Albert.
Our non-profit art programs are designed for families with children ages 5 to 13.
Programs are 1.5 hours in length and parents are always welcome but required to stay and assist any children under 7 years of age.
Get your family out of the house, take a personal break, or learn something new and leave the whole creative art making mess to us!

Thursday, September 8: Clay Sunflower
Artists will learn how to accurately sculpt a bright and beautifully textured sunflower for the garden!
Thursday, September 15: Polymer Clay Beaded Keychain
Artists will sculpt a keychain for themselves or as a gift for someone special!
Thursday, September 22: Clay Leaf Tray
Artists will sculpt their own trinket tray in the shape of a leaf!
Thursday, September 29: Coloured Chalk and Pastel Squirrel
Artists will learn how to use chalk pastels to make a colourful, unique drawing of a squirrel for fall.
Thursday, October 6: Polymer Clay Earrings
Artists will sculpt a fun set of colourful earrings for themselves or as a gift for someone special!
Thursday, October 13: Fall Themed Charcoal Drawings
Artists will discover the bold intensity of charcoal by experimenting with simple outlines, shading, and blending, to make finished drawings.
Thursday, October 20: Paint a Pumpkin
You’ve heard of pumpkin carving, now try your hand at pumpkin painting! Artists will decorate pumpkins using paint and create a work of art worth displaying!
Thursday, October 27: Needle Felted Owl
Needle felting is a popular fibre arts craft that challenges students to sculpt wool using a special barbed needle. Barbs catch the scales in a bundle of wool and bind them together to form a 3D owl sculpture.
Thursday, November 3: Arm Knitted Scarf
Artists will master the basics of arm knitting with this easy-to-follow class, no experience required! In this class, artists will learn how to cast on, stitch rows, and how to tie off and/or begin a new skein of yarn. Get ready to be yarned and dangerous!

Artists will sculpt their own cute and playful snowman!
Thursday, November 24: Clay Jewelry
Artists will sculpt their own necklace pendant for themselves or someone special!
Thursday, December 1: Wax & Watercolour Snowflakes
Artists will learn how to create the symmetry and balance of a delicate snowflake by experimenting with wax resist and watercolours.
Thursday, December 8: Holidays Around the World Part 1
Artists will learn about Christmas & Hanukkah and create 1-2 small art projects that relate to the experience!
Thursday, December 15: Holidays Around the World Part 2
Artists will listen to stories about Diwali & Bodhi Day. They will then create a small paper lantern and draw a tree of awakening on a slab of air-dry clay for a fun, hands on art experience!
Thursday, December 22: Holidays Around the World Part 3
Artists will listen to stories about Chinese New Year & Ramadan/Eid Al-Fitr. They will then sculpt a small polymer clay rabbit along with a sparkling star and moon garland for a fun, hands on art experience!

We strive to keep staff, volunteers, visitors and program participants safe in our programming spaces and we will continue to follow all provincial government regulations.
OUR PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PROTOCOLS:
• All staff and instructors are fully vaccinated
• Those experiencing illness should not attend class (refunds/transfers available on a case by case basis)
• Increased cleaning of high-touch surfaces
• Individual supplies for each student
• Masking is encouraged
Please note, there may be an occasion where we are unable to safely offer regular classes consistently due to the unpredictability of COVID-19. This could result in classes being interrupted, canceled, or moved to online, depending on the program.
Secure your spot early, and help ensure your class runs. Ticket sales for most programs close 7 days prior to the class, and refunds will be granted up to 7 days prior to the start of the class. View our community class cancellation and withdrawal policies.
