ITINERARY:

Day 1 - Monday, Dec. 23 - Hong Kong
Upon arrival we are met and transferred to the hotel. The city's magic is as captivating as ever. Hong Kong is where the mystical East meets the modern West, where the potpourri of sights, smells and sounds never fails to delight the senses. A city that is led with drive and energy. Overnight Regal Kowloon or similar.

Day 2 - Tuesday, Dec 24 - Hong Kong (BD)
Our introduction to dynamic Hong Kong begins with a tour of Hong Kong Island. We’ll see the classic attractions: Victoria Peak (tram) for a panoramic view of the one of the world’s most beautiful harbors. Continue to the Aberdeen typhoon shelter for a glimpse of the floating community of fishermen plus street market shopping at Stanley Market. Welcome dinner at a local Chinese restaurant (We'll walk to the restaurant with guide assistance)

Day 3 – Wednesday, Dec 25 Hong Kong (BD)
Morning at leisure. We suggest a visit to the Hong Kong Museum of Art with traditional and startlingly modern pieces. Or attend a tea event, sometimes held at the Tea Museum, in a historic building formerly that of the British Commander in Chief.

Afternoon visit to the fascinating neighborhoods of Mongkok and Yau Ma Tei, where you can really see daily life. It’s a good chance to learn about the culture and traditions beyond travel books.

The charming Chinese-style garden on Yuen Po Street (Bird Market) includes some 70 songbird stalls as well as courtyards and moon gates. There is a delightful variety of bird cages. The colorful and aromatic Flower Market sells everything from Dutch tulips to exotic orchids, while the Goldfish Market on nearby Tung Choi Street is where we'll find more than those tiny orange creatures: corals and exotic fish.

Visit the Jade Market. A mecca for jade collectors from all over the world. This is a fun place to browse and perhaps buy an inexpensive memento of your visit. Take note of the huge jade stone at the junction of Canton Road and Jordan road, a local landmark it weighs three tons!

Tin Hua Temple is dedicated to the revered Goddess of the Sea, Tin Hua. Its locations in the middle of urban Yau Ma Tei might seem odd, but long ago, before massive land reclamation in the area, it was positioned on the waterfront. While the water may have receded, people continue to worship Tin Hua here.

Right across the way from the temple is Temple St. Night Market. We should reach the market as it comes alive around 6 pm. You can find all manner of bargains here. You’ll also often run into fortune tellers, one has a bird who’ll pull your paper destiny from a cup, Cantonese opera singers and professional Chinese chess players. Two new Chinese pai laus (archways) have been erected at the market’s junctions with Jordan Road. Dinner will be at the Jade Garden. Return to the hotel.
