Description

Born in Taiwan under Japanese occupation. Raised in Manchukuo under Japanese control Retrocession of Taiwan. Received Canadian citizenship after immigrating to North America. The many identities of Dr. Charles Yang. He lingers in the influences of different cultures and felt the lessons of every experience. Dr. Yang’s whole life had been about finding home while not losing yourself along the way. This is the story of Dr. Yang. His experiences and background were adapted into a novel by Taiwanese-Canadian author Julian Lin. Connecting historical events to his life stories, Julia painted a story of self discovery. Dr. Yang and Julia Lin will be at this year’s TAIWANfest Hope Talk, sharing their stories of self exploration.

他在日治時期的台灣出生 他在日本統治的滿州國生活 他在台灣光復後成為台灣人 他在移民美洲後成為加拿大人 他,是楊正昭醫師。 流連在不同文化的影響,楊正昭醫師感受每個經驗帶來的領悟,他的生命脈絡牽動著他的自我認同。楊正昭醫師的一生都是探索的旅程,他在每個生命階段受到跨國及跨文化的影響,在成長的過程找尋「家」和「自我」的真實意義。 楊正昭醫師的生長背景、生命經歷一生的故事,引起台裔加拿大作家Julia Lin的興趣,串連著歷史事件和生命故事寫成小說,用細膩的文字描繪一個捲入時代巨輪以及國族文化更迭的漩渦中,勇渡汪洋探索自我的故事。楊醫師及Julia 即將在台灣文化節的希望講堂分享,一個關於自我探索與文化認同的生命故事。
