Description
The Cornell Club of Toronto is excited to bring you a new type of event for this year's Zinck's Night: an exclusive fireside chat with Johnathan and Melissa Nightingale, bestselling authors of How F*cked Up Is Your Management?, and journalist Avery Swartz, for an evening of swears, war-stories, and actionable leadership advice.
Johnathan and Melissa Nightingale, the editors of the popular management blog, The Co-pour, will talk you through key career moments, from your first job all the way up to the C-suite. These tech veterans have helped scale organizations like Mozilla, Hubba, and Wattpad through thoughtful planning and hard-earned experience. In this exclusive fireside chat, they’ll cover topics from their #1 bestselling book on leadership and provide valuable advice for anyone who wants to avoid common pitfalls for growing businesses.
Update: The evening will be moderated by tech expert Avery Swartz, contributor to CTV's Your Morning, The Globe & Mail and Chatelaine, founder and CEO of Camp Tech, and digital advisor to a number of charities, including the Art Canada Institute and Canadian Cancer Society.
This event is for everyone who believes great leaders are made, not born. You’ll hear practical lessons distilled from mistakes and triumphs on key topics like:
- Leadership best and worst practices
- Bridging generational gaps in a growing organization
- How to build a winning workplace culture and a diverse team
- Tips and tricks to wow your colleagues and succeed at work
- How bosses can get the most out of their people
- And why today’s employees expect more from their bosses
Order a copy of How F*cked Up Is Your Management? for the book signing after the event.
The evening will include Q&A, networking and socializing.

About How F*cked Up Is Your Management?
How F*cked Up Is Your Management?: An Uncomfortable Conversation about Modern Leadership
This book has swears. Any honest discussion of management needs a few. And it’s just what you’d expect from the creators of the internet famous blog, The Co-pour.
If you’re trying to lead a group of people today, the bad news is that it’s harder than ever. Your employees have impossible expectations of you, and your investors haven’t operated a business in over twenty years. The good news is that there’s hope. You can be the leader your people need, but you won’t get there without some discomfort.
How F*cked Up Is Your Management tackles a massive gap in the conversation about modern leadership. Through personal narrative, and candid storytelling, Melissa and Johnathan Nightingale distill the lessons they’ve learned and the mistakes they’ve made into a new management standard.
This book doesn’t gloss over the hard work, uncertainty, and stress that it takes for startups to get things right. It doesn’t glorify those things either.
