Don has spent more than two decades leading, growing, and transforming organizations and businesses, working with multinational companies, tech start-ups, academic/research institutions, governments and clients around the world. As CEO of NORCAT, he has transformed the organization to become a global, multi-faceted enterprise focused on providing programs, services and resources to prepare current and future workers and tech entrepreneurs with the right skills, competencies, and confidence to succeed. In addition, Don is also the founder and co-managing partner of the Sudbury Catalyst Fund, a unique $5M co-investment seed capital venture fund based in Sudbury, Ontario.

Previously, Don served as VP of Strategy/Operations for the MaRS Discovery District, an Investment Director with MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund, and as Senior Manager within Deloitte Consulting. He’s an active angel investor and holds a variety of Board positions. Academically he holds an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Queen’s University and a Master of Applied Science and Engineering from the University of Toronto.


Trang Tran-Valade, President FORTAI

In 2019, Trang became founding president of FORTAI, after previously working as founding president of SHYFTinc an innovative technological solutions provider for the mining industry. FORTAI is an advanced technology and product manufacturing company focused on delivering innovative value chain management and savings to the mining industry while providing profitable growth to investors and shareholders.

Glen Dagenais, Digital Transformation Specialist BESTECH

Glen is a Principal Engineer (Electrical) and mine digitization expert with almost 30 years of experience in mining electrical systems, power, automation, electrical safety, and communication. Glen assists major mining operations in developing and implementing mine digitization and optimization strategies that bridge new and existing infrastructure while mitigating risk and increasing year-over-year operational savings. Over the last 10 years, he has led a team of principal engineers and subject matter experts as Manager of the Technical

Expertise Centre (TEC) at BESTECH, contributing a high level of expertise to projects to deliver value and quality to the client.

Ron Bose, Chief Engineer XPS

Ron is a Professional Engineer and a Certified Energy Manager. As a member of the Innovation and Technology team at Glencore’s Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations, his day to day is to implement initiatives to improve productivity by better resource management and nurturing the creation of information from data. His mantra is People ← Process ← Technology.

Dr. Theo Yameogo, Partner EY

Dr. Theo is a deep technical mining engineer with business education and experience. His pragmatic career path in the mining industry enables him to combine the technical and business imperatives to support EY clients. He currently focuses on enabling and fostering business transformation and technology innovation across the industry to support core business excellence and enterprise growth. He is current EY Americas Leader for Mining and Metals, as well as Canada co-Leader. Prior to his consulting experience, Theo spent many years directly in the mining business as a mining, project and rock mechanics engineer.

Calin Miculescu, Director Sales NOKIA

Calin is a member of the Nokia Canadian Customer Account Team. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Guelph. Calin has over 10 years of deep experience in the Telecommunications sector and is passionate about connecting people and things globally. His work focused on End to End Network Architectures for large service providers and mission critical systems for enterprise customers. As Director of Sales, he's focused on helping mining companies create their Digital Mines of the Future. Calin is active within the research community and has written several research papers with the latest focused on next-generation optical transport technologies which was published as part of the OFC/NFOEC 2013 Conference. He is a proud member of the IEEE Association, and is a Professional Engineer.
