NB-IRDT serves as a central location for approved researchers to access many provincial administrative data sets not otherwise accessible to facilitate research, answer questions that empower government to stretch healthcare dollars, anticipate the needs of a changing population and encourage growth.

Research applications submitted to gain access to secure administrative data sets are put through a thorough review process. Project Coordinator, Jennifer Moorcraft and Privacy Officer, Donna Curtis-Maillet will provide a step-by-step overview of the NB-IRDT application and review process and answer any questions you may have.

NB-IRDT is a research institute at the University of New Brunswick on the Fredericton campus. We carry out evidence-based research to provide government, academics, and researchers with solid information to inform decisions that affect New Brunswickers. Operating at arms’ length from government, we provide unbiased, scientific results on questions related to health and social issues/prosperity for our generation and those to come.

NB-IRDT provides a central location for researchers to access many provincial administrative health data sets to facilitate research and answer questions that will empower government to stretch healthcare dollars, anticipate the needs of a changing population, and encourage growth. These data sets are also linkable to allow for more research opportunities.

Requesting access to data sets is a complicated process and takes a great deal of time. Researchers who want access to data held at NB-IRDT must go through a strict review process, including a privacy review.  Ensuring the privacy and safety of the citizens of New Brunswick is our main concern.
