Event description

Description

Learn about federal immigration programs that can support your talent needs.

The digital transformation is disrupting our city like never before. As technology transforms all sectors of the economy, companies are requiring skilled talent with tech/digital competencies that are in short supply. As we continue to utilize local training institutions to develop much-needed tech talent, we recognize that the current availability of intermediate to senior tech talent is limited, not only in Calgary, but all across Canada.

The Information and Technology Council of Canada (ICTC) reports that job growth in Information and Communication Technology in Canada is outpacing the overall economy by a rate of 6 to 1. This growth in demand for digital talent is unprecedented in Canada and will only continue to grow as a projected 216,000 digitally-skilled occupations will need to be filled by 2021 (ICTC 2018). As a result, the landscape for attracting digital talent is growing increasingly competitive, and many Canadian companies are finding an edge by turning to the global talent pool for recruitment solutions.

How can we attract much-needed tech talent to Calgary?

Join us to learn more about international recruitment and the Government of Canada programs designed to expedite the visa and relocation process for tech talent coming into Canada.

Employers will be joined by a representative from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and Employment and Social Development Canada who will deliver short presentations covering various aspects of international recruitment. The formal program will end with a preview of Connect To Tech, a large-scale international tech talent attraction initiative.
