Attending, faciliting and participating in meetings are a major part of movement building. They can be inspiring, hellish, or somewhere in between. The quality of a meeting depends a lot on good facilitation. Facilitators aren’t supposed to run the show, and they do more than keep track of who wants to speak. Come learn and share strategies for fostering good communication, equity, active listening and effective decision making for meetings of all shapes and sizes.
This workshop is a partnership between Tools for Change and the Broadbent Institute.

Trainer: Alejandra Bravo is the Director of Leadership and Training at the Broadbent Institute. Prior to this, she was Manager of Leadership & Learning at Maytree, where she designed and delivered training for emerging leaders to participate actively in civic and political life. Alejandra is a member of the Toronto District School Board’s Inner City Advisory Committee and an advisor to Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives-Ontario. She has a 25-year history of working for progressive social change with grassroots, immigrant, and labour groups. Alejandra has worked as a community organizer, political staff and has been a City Council candidate in Toronto. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto.

Tools for Change
Tools for Change is a project of OPIRG Toronto, Earthroots, Greenpeace Canada, OPIRG York, the Community Action Centre of the Student Association at George Brown College and No One Is Illegal (NOII). We help you develop skills to champion social, economic, and environmental justice. We host over 20 workshops a year. Workshop are offered on a sliding scale of $20, $30 and $50 and scholarships are available.
