Event description

Learn New Camera + Storytelling Skills during this fun-filled weekend.

All photographer skill levels welcome.

Here's your chance to take your photography to the next level. Get the goods on how to make a great photograph using simple techniques. We'll start with the basics of 'Know thy camera.' You don't have to know every bell and whistle nor be intimidated by the tech factor. I shoot for the National Geographic and I still haven't figured out many of my camera's menu settings. What I do know is how to manipulate my camera's meter and that's critical.

We'll venture nearby to where once grand structures stood tall and proud, where these abandoned structures now lie in various decaying states of ruin. History in this sense is extraordinarily vital. It not only allows us to feel an intimate human connection with the people immediately before us but also begs us to think about where we are going next. It is here where we'll explore ways to think about various genres and cover techniques for making effective imagery. Each location we'll visit has its own particular look, character, and ambiance. There is no substitute for making lots of pictures, and few other things are as much fun.

For this event date, I'll be joined by Gordon Goldsborough. Best described by his peers, "Gordon is a walking, talking, insatiably curious story-telling machine and, because he is, 'Abandoned Manitoba' has become the most popular and most talked-about regular feature on CBC Radio Winnipeg's Weekend Morning Show."

All skill levels welcome.

Now, where should you start and what should you do? The fact that you're reading this right now is your key to making the photos you've always hoped for. So congratulations. It's time to register.

Rendezvous: Exact location to be disclosed closer to the event date. Downtown Neepawa.
