Event description

Description

The first important step towards a degree for any graduate student is defining a well-formulated research question and designing a project. A well-designed plan with clear questions is the basis for a good start and is the foundation of future success. This interactive presentation will address the basics of project design both for trainees at the KRC who perform experimental research and for trainees at LKSKI who do dry bench studies. We will discuss various aspects of project design, including how to formulate research questions and hypotheses; how to define the overall objectives of a project; how to generate research aims that break down the project into manageable portions; how to select research strategies and methodology etc. We will also discuss concepts such as research rationale, feasibility, and generating realistic timelines and dealing with potential pitfalls and alternatives.
