DECEMBER
This will be a new experience for those who feel they have no time to meditate – “Yes, that’s me!” you say? Then these sessions are for you. We are working with the mind only in our sessions so meditation is the indispensable method we will be encouraging you to practice.
Only ninety minutes to set your life right each week. We will be exploring challenging ways to thrive in these challenging times: wishing to develop courage in the face of adversity; learning to grow inner strength and become inwardly patient when things fall apart and our world is shaken – everybody needs a good heart and to be good-natured for success in developing these qualities.
About these matters Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche has written: “Transforming adverse conditions into the path is vital in these degenerate times because we are constantly surrounded by difficulties like a candle flame exposed to the wind, blown first from this direction, then from that.
There is no way of avoiding difficult situations, but if we can change our attitude towards them they will no longer be problems for us. Instead of allowing adversities to make us unhappy and discouraged we can use them to enhance our experience of the stages of the spiritual path, and thereby maintain a pure and peaceful mind all the time.”
There will be a team-teaching approach with Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab and other Teachers in discussion, short talks, meditations and opportunity to share experiences and find answers to your questions.
December 6: No class. Everyone is encouraged to attend the Ontario Dharma Celebration.
December 13: How to Handle Anything – why do we suffer?
It is true that we suffer but it does not have to be like that if we adopt a new position or attitude – learn how to think differently.
Class goal: adopting a regular meditation practice.
December 27: Letting Go of Anxiety – abandoning problems forever is within reach
Recognizing the source of our problems is the start of our renewal – identifying clearly our real problems is the most important step.
Class goal: identifying our delusions as our only enemies
January 10: Never Suffer Again – attaining the cessation of pain
Through adaptation to a changing world we can reach nirvana - permanent inner peace – but without changing ourself our problems will never end by themselves.
Class goal: how to train the mind in daily life
January 17: Following the Heart of Wisdom – lifetimes of pure happiness
Let the Buddhas into our life and everlasting happiness becomes a reality – learning to trust these great beings who can guide us to safety.
Class goal: recognizing we can fulfill all our wishes if we allow others to help us
These sessions will be later condensed into a special weekend retreat Feb 12-14th 2021, called: How to Beat Anxiety and Depression and Find a Happy Life (with Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab and others)
Please note: These classes are for those who would have attended in person under normal circumstances.
For in-person tickets, please bring a mask for inside the Temple.
