Event description
Learn tips and tricks and get inspired to make an exquisite, delicious, creative layer cake.

About this Event

In this workshop you will learn how to make delicious, stunning layer cakes decorated entirely with edible delights. You'll learn tips for baking the cakes themselves, including my favorite size & model of cake pan and how to adapt recipes to meet your needs. You’ll learn about the magic of soaking syrups and different filling options. I will share the Best Buttercream Recipe Ever, but also talk about Swiss and Italian meringue buttercream, as well as how to get creative with any of these. You’ll learn everything you need to know to assemble and finish a four-layer cake, including adding tiers if you so desire. Then we get to the fun part—decorating. I’ll talk about my ever-evolving cake-decorating philosophy and how to create something beautiful, delicious and, if you like, weird. By the end of this 1.5 hour(-ish) class you should feel very prepared to put together something incredible.

BONUS: A great plan for what to do with cake scraps!

This class is not necessarily a cook-along, but I will send out recipes one week ahead of the class so that you can have everything ready to put together a cake as you watch, should you so desire. Personally, I'll be making my own birthday cake!

This class will be held over Zoom as a webinar where you can ask questions in real time via the chat. That said, if you can’t be there at the scheduled time, you can watch online or download the class later. I’m happy to answer any questions that may remain via email.
