Join us at Ottawa City Hall and meet organizations working together on the front lines who are supporting survivors, advocating for their needs and educating on the crime of Human Trafficking.

As a collective we have been working on a community response model and so we are pleased to announce that Carly Kalish, Executive Director, Durham Region Victim Services will be here to speak about Toronto’s response model on domestic human trafficking. She'll also share how they utilize a stages of change approach to supporting survivors. (see Carly's bio below*)

You will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from the many organizations in Ottawa who are on the front lines and to better understand all the many services available in the city.

The morning includes:

  • Proclamation and Flag Raising Ceremony wih His Worship Mayor Jim Watson
  • Comments from Hon. Lisa MacLeod, Minister Children,Community & Social Services and Minister responsible for Women’s Issues
  • Community Collaboration
  • Networking
  • and
  • Breakfast from FoodWorks

Registration is required and space is limited.

The event will be held in Jean Pigggot Place on the main floor of Ottawa City Hall.

*Carly Kalish is an advocate, innovator, and go-to thought leader for survivors of trauma. Carly currently drives Victim Services of Durham Region as their Executive Director. Carly holds a Master of Social Work from the City University of New York. She currently attends the non-profit management program at Harvard University. Carly is the recipient of the Toronto Police Services “Leading the Path Award”, Toronto Foundation’s “Vital People Grant” and Attorney General’s “Victim Services Award” for her dedication to working with survivors of domestic human trafficking.

Who are the Ottawa HT Frontline Committee?

We are a collective of organizations in Ottawa who work on the front lines providing services and support to persons who are being or who have been trafficked. We meet monthly to share best practices, review cases, identify gaps and work collaboratively to respond to the complex needs of HT survivors.
