Laila Biali, the multi award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter/pianist and Humber Music Alumna, will be returning to the Humber stage for a star-studded evening of some of Canada’s top jazz musicians and Humber Alumni. Now a CBC Music national radio host, the celebrated Biali plays the world’s top concert halls, from New York City's Carnegie Hall to Beijing's National Centre for the Performing Arts and has performed with such international icons as Sting. For this performance, Laila’s trio will be joined by some special guests that include Pat LaBarbera (saxophone), Kevin Turcotte (trumpet), Kelsley Grant (trombone), and Andrew Scott (guitar).
The Humber 50th Anniversary Band is featured on the second half, with Pat LaBarbera, Colleen Allen and Jesse Ryan (saxophone), Kevin Turcotte (trumpet), William Carn (trombone), Trevor Giancola (guitar), Andrew Scott (guitar), Thomas Francis (piano), Lauren Falls (bass) and current student Jackson Haynes (drums) taking the listener on a journey through each decade of Humber Music.
The Carandang Pincente Jazz Orchestra will kick off the evening. Formed by current Humber students, Dain Carandang and Angela Pincente, in alliance with music colleagues from other schools in Toronto, this electrifying big band is an inspiring demonstration of the spirit of inclusion and collaboration that are core values of Humber.
The event will be hosted by the Bachelor of Music program coordinator, Dr. Andrew Scott.
Paid parking is available in Lot 1, along Lakeshore Blvd or along 23rd Street.
